Or was the whole story made up?
No photos or confirmation that it exists today has surfaced. The phone book was not collected as evidence and it is not in the hands of the authorities who surveyed the crime scene and collected evidence. On all accounts of the Labianca killings, only Manson himself, has spoken of the black book. Others have not spoken of it nor have they been asked. Steve Grogan accompanied the crime party to the Labianca house, though did not go inside, has never spoken of Charlie raising concerns or desire for this book.
My view: The Black Phone book is a lie.

I have actually never heard of this black phone book. What I would like to see or listen to, are those old tapes of Tex Watson being interrogated, which are for some reason still sealed.

There are stories out there that allege the La Bianca Family of having ties to the Mob and the drug world back than. Leno was rumored to keep a "black book" full of all of the phone numbers and transactions he was making with people in the drug world at that time. Manson says in interviews from around the late 80s to the early 90s, two of them that I know of, that he came to the La Bianca house for the black book.
Check out the Ronald Reagan Jr. interview along with the Doug Bruckner interview from 1992. They're both on youtube.
(Manson claims to have me Sharon Tate at a house party, tells his side of the Bobby Bosseliel/Hinmen murder, reveals his ties to the mafia figures like Frank Costello, speaks of the black phone book La Bianca kept)

"Manson... reveals his ties to the mafia figures like Frank Costello"
As far as I can tell, Manson and Frank Costello were never incarcerated together, so this is probably BS too.

Tex tapes are crucial. But kept under lock and key I do not understand how those tapes are being kept from the public. There has to be a way to get access to them. Who has tried to get them? What is the reasoning behind keeping them sealed?
